I was out of bread and I had a kid from my younger one's class coming home with her for a play date. Most of these American kids like peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a grilled sandwich and I had to have bread to make either one of these. I could've run to the store to get it (it would be about 30 minutes total) but I had to be home since I had a lot of office work pending. So, I quickly made yeast bread but to make the raising faster, I adapted a method that I had read in a book sometime back.
Place the well kneaded dough in a pan. Cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Take a cup of water in a microwave safe cup and heat the water in the microwave until almost boiling. Open the microwave door and slide the pan containing the dough in the microwave leaving the water cup inside. Close the door. The dough will double in 20 - 30 minutes. Deflate, shape into the loaf and place in the pan of the correct size. Cover with greased aluminum foil. Repeat the process of heating water and sliding this shaped load into the microwave. Another 20 - 30 minutes, the bread dough is ready to be baked.
I had no time to take pictures and post, but thought will share it with you all.
Happy Tuesday.

ReplyDeleteIts hard to get perfect active yeast in India. Which brand yeast do you use or if there is any site from where I can order it online??
ReplyDeleteI have tried many different brands available here and all of them work just fine. It has to be fresh and that is the key. You can try red star and Fieschman for online purchase.
