Above you can see how the slices look. One is with jam and the other one is homemade pineapple cranberry chutney.
This is my first post in this blog. I used the Irish soda bread recipe from here.
Made changes and they are:
- Used 1 TBSP of apple cider vinegar topped it with soy milk to reach 1 cup in place of buttermilk
- Used 3/4 cup of black raisins.
- Used 1/4 cup of poppy seeds in place of caraway seeds.
Notes:
Could add some cardamom powder or some vanilla. But keeping in mind the origin of this bread which represents frugality, kept it simple.
Taste:
This is actually very bland. It has no taste whatsoever. A glaze of orange juice and powdered sugar could help and so does sprinkling with cinnamon sugar mixture before baking.
